On going home

Thomas Wolfe once famously said “you can’t go home again.” He meant that things change and nothing is static.    As I look to go home again after my six weeks in Montana, I am taking a lot with me, mostly internally–the knowledge that no, not everywhere is like Valentine, Nebraska, that we are all in charge of our own lives and can change them if we wish, although it may seem we are stuck at times.   My trip has also made me appreciate Valentine more–the familiarity of place, the people I have made friends with, my work.

home   I shall, in the meantime, continue posting stories from home, stories from places I have been in the world, and poetry, and I thank you, dear readers, for liking The Irish Traveller page on Facebook and for following along and contributing with comments–on the Irish Traveller page, you can post your own trips and tell us where the good places to stay, eat and have fun are!

Keep travelling.
